Biography

Silvia Franceschini is an independent curator and researcher. She was a member of the curatorial team of the School of Kyiv, Kyiv Biennial 2015. Her curatorial projects include Sources Go Dark, Futura Center for Contemporary Art, Prague (2015), Global Tools 1973-1975: Towards an Ecology of Design, Salt, Istanbul (2014), The Way of Enthusiasts, V-A-C Foundation, Venice Biennale (2012). She is the co-author of Global Tools 1973-1975: When education will coincide with life a monograph on Global Tools, a multidisciplinary experimental programme of art education (Salt, 2015). She has lectured and curated symposia on issues related to radical education at several venues including Salt, Istanbul, Citttadellarte Pistoletto Foundation, Biella, Konstfack University College of Arts Crafts and Design, Stockholm, Strelka Institute, Moscow and has written about it for Volume Magazine (Salt Publishing). She was a research fellow at the Streak Institute for Media Architecture and Design in Moscow and is a member of Synapse - International Curators Network at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin. She graduated in Art and Design Theory at Politecnico di Milano in Milan, where she is now a PhD fellow.
