Gabriella Golder

Biography

Gabriela Golder examines the intersection between labour and memory from a wide variety of sources— political, mythical and medical—to highlight the aftereffects left by violent state actions. Investigating how political trauma is wrought upon the body and carried forward, Golder makes disparate connections between seemingly unrelated places and events. Whether analysing the nature of political violence, the impact of labour on the human body or the evolution of collective memory, the artist approaches the subject from many perspectives to cast light in surprising places.

Golder is a professor at the National University of Tres de Febrero, Buenos Aires, and curator of El Cine es Otra Cosa, an experimental film and video series at the Museum of Modern Art, Buenos Aires.
She was born in 1971 in Buenos Aires, where she continues to live and work.
