Biography

Johnny Lahoud is an actor, writer, producer and director who strives to build worlds with realistic and relatable characters. As an actor, he works to bring complex characters to life through specific yet simple choices, and as a director, he attempts to break racial stereotypes and present important truths.

Lahoud has appeared in a number of television series, including On the Ropes (2018); Sando (2018); Unsynced (2017); Here Come the Habibs! (2016), Top of the Lake (2013), Gangs of Oz (2009) and Underbelly (2008). He has also had acting roles in feature films such as Life of the Party (2017), Dream Kiss Cry (2008) and Conversations While Planning a Murder (2008), among others.

He was a member of Fresh Blood’s Class of 2017, a joint initiative between ABC and Screen Australia to support budding talent. He has studied the Meisner technique in Australia and was the Australian Ambassador at Masterclass.com (2014–2017).

Lahoud was born in Sydney, where he continues to live and work.

Sharjah Film Platform Talks and Workshops

In parallel with the screening of over 50 films, Sharjah Film Platform (SFP) presents a programme of talks on cinema and artists’ moving image—from panel discussions to in-conversation sessions—that address the creative and conceptual aspects of filmmaking and the latest debates in the film and television industry. Workshops on various topics related to cinema, from acting improvisation to film criticism, will also be offered.
