Biography

Nadim Choufi’s work focuses on the histories and futures of innovation, their social and political driving forces, and the visual and literary practices that surround them. Through video, sculpture, and installation, his work often focuses on the material effects on organisms, languages, products and bodies.

Choufi’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions, including at VCUQatar Art and Design Biennial (2022); Beirut Art Centre (2021); Sharjah Art Foundation (2021 and 2019); Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology, Lisbon (2021); Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai (2021); Kunstlerhauser Worpswede, Germany (2020); Ashkal Alwan, Beirut (2019); Macao, Milan (2019); and Haven For Artists, Beirut (2018).

He was a fellow at Home Workspace Programme, Ashkal Alwan, Beirut (2018–2019) and an artist-in-residence at Haven For Artists, Beirut (2018).

His work, The Sky Oscillates Between Eternity and Its Immediate Consequences (2020), received the Best Experimental Short Film award at Sharjah Film Platform (2021) and the Art Jameel Commission: Digital from Jameel Arts Centre.

Choufi completed his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from UCLA (2016).

Born in 1994 in the United Arab Emirates, Choufi lives and works in Beirut.
