Biography

other indias is a volunteer-run sociopolitical and cultural space for movements, experiences and voices that are generous to the cause of collective liberation in/of the Indian subcontinent and its peoples. They share and disseminate counter-hegemonic perspectives, developing a critical collective voice in the Netherlands, which offers solidarity and support to dissident voices in India from abroad. other indias organises regular film screenings, workshops and reading circles.

Recent activities, all in Amsterdam, include film screenings marking the anniversary of anti-CAA (Citizen Amendment Act) protests in India (January 2023); Queer Muslim Joy Party, with poetry reading and baking of kleicha (Iraqi date cookie) (April 2023); film programming Whose Freedoms? Reflecting on 76 Years of Independence in India and Pakistan (August 2023); community check-in, poster making and solidarity vigil in response to violence in Manipur, Framer Framed (August 2023); and workshop series Picking for Posterity, Hope is a discipline, de Appel (October and November 2023).
