Biography
Although Yoshimi is best known as a drummer, she is a multi-instrumentalist who also plays guitar, keyboards, trumpet and uses her own voice. She is the leader of the experimental band OOIOO and a member of Free Kitten (with Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth) and the improvisational band Saicobabaa, which uses electronics mixed with traditional Indian instruments.
In additionto her numerous recording and performance projects, she created the original score for the abstract documentary film Yunnan Colorfree (2007) and has written music for TV commercials under the name Yoshimio. She is also head designer and creative director for the fashion line Emerald thirteen.
