Overview

I have been going on bike rides since 1992 - in the Emirates as well as in other places such as Japan, France, Scotland ... On these trips I make sketches of natural scenes and document them in my journals. In other words, my trips are organised and deliberate; the one thing I am constantly seeking is the formation of a philosophy of my own. An understanding of life, the search for self – life for me is a continuous journey.

You find the element of movement in this work, where I have attached a sketched scroll to a boat. This scroll sticks at random during the boat’s movement near the shore.

This movement is related to silence and contemplation. My works look for the “I” through collision and discovery. I do not attempt to deal with traditional drawing on its own, but I make of the surrounding environment a formative element, and not simply a set in which the drawing is embraced. The scroll here is an element, as are the boat and the beach; the visual aspect is an infinite dimension for the artwork.
