Overview

This publication is a record of the 13th edition of March Meeting, Sharjah Art Foundation’s annual convening of artists and art practitioners to explore critical issues in contemporary art through panels, lectures and performances. It includes an introduction to the conference, a schedule of the programme and biographical information on the panelists.

March Meeting 2021 (MM 2021) examined the past 30 years of Sharjah Biennial as a model initiative for disrupting the power of artistic monolingualism and a horizon for developing another theoretical space for thinking historically in the present. Titled Unravelling the Present, MM 2021 brought together former Sharjah Biennial curators, artistic directors and artists as well as art historians and art critics to investigate the role, place and impact of the Sharjah Biennial in the region and the global contemporary art scene at large.
