Overview

In collaboration with Ma3azef, Sharjah Art Foundation presents Music Weekend with Ma3azef, part of the public programming for Sharjah Biennial 14 (SB14): Leaving the Echo Chamber. The two-day event on 5 and 6 April 2019 features the Ma3azef Symposium on Arabic Music along with live music performances and Re|sound.

Over the course of two days, leading writers, musicians and critics will discuss a number of topical issues related to contemporary Arabic music, including the development of an Arabic music dictionary and the role of modern history in the recent transformation of the Arabic music scene.

In the evenings, Al Mureijah Square will come alive with performances by musical duo Kamilya Jubran and Werner Hasler, Muqata’a and $$$TAG$$$. Also part of the programme is the third edition of Re|sound, an event for musical experimentation in dialogue with the medium of film. This edition features a screening of Lujain Rakadh’s film Rahhala (2017) in tandem with a live performance by Laith Demashqieh, Hasan Hujairi and Makimakkuk.
