Overview

Sharjah Art Foundation’s upcoming season of workshops and courses offers new approaches to visual arts, writing and performance. Taking place in different venues across Sharjah, including The Flying Saucer, Collections Building, Sharjah Art Institute and Bait Obaid Al Shamsi, sessions will run from 27 January to 28 February 2024.

Designed for participants from age 3 to adult, the learning programmes are conducted in English and/or Arabic by professional artists and cultural practitioners. All workshops are free, and materials are provided. A fee is charged for the courses.

The Foundation is committed to making its programmes inclusive and accessible for people of all ages and abilities.

Learning Programme for Children and Families
27 January–24 February 2024


In this programme, children ages 6 to 15 can develop their visual art skills as well as their literary and theatrical talent. Workshops on sculpting and printing are held on Saturdays, while courses on pottery, writing and acting take place every Saturday and Sunday.

Learning Programme for Youth and Adults
27 January–28 February 2024


The workshops in this programme encourage participants ages 16+ to explore their potential in different fields of art, and artists and art practitioners can focus on their professional development. Participants can create comics, work with new photographic concepts and techniques, and discover tips for overcoming creative blocks. Also on offer are workshops about managing projects and budgets, and making digital art with Procreate and other digital illustration applications.

Early Learning Programme
29 January–26 February 2024


Children ages 3 to 5, together with parents and caregivers, can enjoy an array of workshops and activities that develop artistic and sensory skills. Workshops on storytelling and designing take place on the last Monday of every month at The Flying Saucer.
