Practical colour theory

Workshop for Children and Families

This workshop will provide participants with a solid foundation in colour theory so that they can address concerns about colour in their own painting. Participants will learn how to make secondary and complementary colours, and why certain colours stand out while others recede into the background.


Camaïeu painting technique

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to camaïeu, a painting technique in which an image is created in various shades or hues of a single colour, often one that is not commonly associated with the object, figure or scene depicted in the painting. Guided by the instructor, participants will work on canvas to explore the camaïeu technique through still life.


Painting in Rain Room Sharjah

After a tour of Rain Room Sharjah, participants will remain in the room to create a painting in which they will reflect on their thoughts, feelings and ways they were affected by the elements in their surroundings, for example, sound, falling water and darkness.
