Biography

Bait al Karama is a women's centre and social enterprise located in an Ottoman building at the heart of the Old City of Nablus. Home to the first Palestinian cooking school run entirely by women, it was conceived in 2010 by educator and activist Fatima Kaddumy and artist Beatrice Catanzaro. Since 2011, it has been conducting activities with the support of cultural manager Cristiana Bottigella. In conjunction with the school, Bait al Karama runs several income-generating ventures, including a beauty salon, catering services and culinary tours in the Old City of Nablus. With the income generated, the centre organises educational training and programmes for women and children from the Old City of Nablus and beyond, responding to the fundamental needs of the community and the complexities of Nabulsi society.
