Biography

Forensic Architecture (FA) is an independent research agency based at Goldsmiths, University of London, which includes architects, scholars, artists, filmmakers, coders, investigative journalists, lawyers and scientists. They undertake research that gathers and presents spatial evidence in relation to political conflict, armed struggle and environmental destruction. The evidence is presented in political and legal forums, truth commissions, courts and human rights reports. Additionally, the agency undertakes historical and theoretical examinations of the history and present status of the potential of forensic practices to articulate notions of public truth. The premise of FA is that analysing international humanitarian law and human rights violations as they unfold in space and time must involve modelling dynamic and navigable 3D models of environments undergoing conflict as well as creating filmic animations and interactive cartographies on the urban or architectural scale.
