Biography

Stefan KK Messam has been drawing for as long as he can remember. His work explores conventions of identity and the range of codes and symbols people construct to remind themselves of identity, experiences, memories, day-to-day routines, passions and secrets. Expanded to construct a compelling visual narrative, his work presents a playful look at these concepts with cryptic sets of symbols and codes that are never really meant to be read, only acknowledged as representative of a depth of identity and personality. He is Associate Professor in Foundations and Design at the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises, Zayed University, Dubai. He earned a master’s degree in design, majoring in illustration and visual narrative.
