Biography

Wendelien van Oldenborgh develops works with a cinematic format that is used as a methodology for production and the basic language for various forms of presentation. She often uses the format of a public film shoot, collaborating with participants in various scenarios to co-produce a script and orient the work towards its final outcome. Her recent exhibitions include the 57th Venice Biennale (2017); DAAD, Berlin (2017); The Jerusalem Show, Palestine Biennial, East Jerusalem (2016); The Showroom, London (2015); Tate Liverpool (2013); 4th Moscow Biennial (2011); 29th Bienal de Sao Paulo (2010); 11th Istanbul Biennial (2009); Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (2008); and M HKA, Antwerp (2008) as well as the RAW Material Company, Dakar and Generali Foundation, Vienna. Van Oldenborgh is a member of the Dutch Society for Arts and the recipient of the Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Art (2014). Her monographic publication Amateur was published by Sternberg Press, Berlin.
