Biography

Oud player and composer Samir Joubran (b. 1973, Nazareth) began performing on stage at the age of 14 in the city of Nazareth. In 1991, he moved to Cairo to study music and obtained his master’s degree in Arabic music from the Mohamed Abdel Wahab Conservatory (1995). He began his artistic career in Egypt, where he represented Palestine in the Arab Music Festival. He has composed the soundtrack for plays and films, including Ticket to Jerusalem (2002) and released two solo albums: Taqaseem (1996) and Sou'fahm (2001). For his third album, Tamas (2002), he collaborated with his brother Wissam. They were later joined by their youngest brother Adnan which led to the establishment of Le Trio Joubran in 2004. One of their most important productions, À l'ombore des mots, has been translated into several languages. Joubran is a partner in Jafra Productions, where he is using his experience to develop the music industry in Palestine.
