Grow a Garden of Neon Prints
Family Workshop

Date: Saturday, 8 April 2023
Timings: 9:30 pm–11:30 pm
Location: Collections Building, Arts Square, Sharjah
Languages: English and Arabic

Employ a basic printmaking technique with cardboard to combine shapes and build floral prints with glow-in-the-dark colours. Take inspiration from the blooming flowers in SB15 artists Iftikhar Dadi and Elizabeth Dadi’s neon light structures titled Efflorescence (2013–ongoing).

Colour Your World with a Kaleidoscope
Ages 6–10

Date: Saturday, 8 April 2023
Timings: 9:30 pm–11:30 pm
Location: Collections Building, Arts Square, Sharjah
Languages: English and Arabic

Ever looked through a kaleidoscope and wondered how the beautiful moving shapes were created? With guidance from the teaching artist, learn how art and science work together to reflect the light and create the movable symmetrical coloured patterns. Then make your own kaleidoscope using simple materials like mirrors and colours.

Design Your Own Shop Sign
Ages 11–15

Date: Saturday, 8 April 2023
Timings: 9:30 pm–11:30 pm
Location: Collections Building, Arts Square, Sharjah
Languages: English and Arabic

Join us for a tour of Souq Saqr to find out how many of SB15 artist Lubaina Himid’s interpretive shop signs you can spot. As you discover the signs from her work Dream Boats (2022), make notes about the design, colours and messages in each one. After the tour, use your notes to create a drawing that expresses your impressions of the signs and objects you have observed.
