Sharjah Art Foundation announces 3rd Edition of the March Meeting.

HH Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Biennial, announced the launch of the Sharjah Art Foundation in a special reception held during the opening week of Venice Bienniale 09.

Sharjah’s Department of Culture and Information will host the 9th Sharjah Biennial from March 19 until May 16 2009. Under the Patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, ruler of Sharjah and under the auspices of Biennial Director, HH Sheika Hoor al Qasimi, overseen by renowned Curators Isabel Carlos and Tarek Abou El Fetouh and led by Artistic Director Jack Persekian, the 9th edition of the Sharjah Biennial will transcend central themes and pre-cast frameworks, exhibiting instead a wide range of works selected by open invitation.

Sharjah Biennial launches the production programme as a vehicle for the realisation of artists’ projects.

The Sharjah Biennial 8 (SB8), inaugurates on April 4th, 2007 in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Sharjah Biennial 7 addresses the rapid developments marking the region, but also raises the question of intersecting artistic traditions, and of partaking in “Globalised” art events. The Biennial is hosting over 70 artists and inviting biennial glitterati, local citizens and the vast expatriate community to consider the now vaporous landscapes of our professional, cultural and sociopolitical habitats.
