Sharjah Art Foundation presents Selections: Summer 2017, an exhibition of works from its growing collection. Works by Niveen Aladag, Rasheed Araeen, Fouad El Koury, Iman Issa and Sara Rahbar are presented in Al Mureijah Square in Galleries 4, 5 and 6. Selections: Summer 2017 also includes works by Hala Al-Ani, Ammar Al Attar, Lamya Gargash, Andreas Gursky and Ayman Ramadan, which are on view in SAF’s newly inaugurated, multifunctional Al Hamriyah Studios.

The SAF Collection focuses on acquiring and presenting artworks either exhibited in or commissioned and produced for Sharjah Biennials and other SAF projects. While international in scope, the Collection features a growing range of work that represents the achievements of artists in the region.

Selections: Summer 2017 is part of Sharjah Art Foundation’s yearly summer programme to present works from the collection in its various gallery spaces located in Sharjah’s Heritage Area and its off-site venues across the Emirate of Sharjah. As part of SAF’s mission to reach communities across Sharjah and its neighbouring emirates, Al Hamriyah Studios was inaugurated in March 2017. The newly built space converses with the history of the site and its prior use as an enclosed market and reinvents it as a communal and social space for artists as well as a location for the production and presentation of artworks.
