Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF) invites submissions from UAE based photographers for the exhibition Vantage Point Sharjah 2. Entry is open to anyone residing in the UAE including professional photographers, artists, as well as individuals with a keen interest in photography. This year SAF is looking for photographs that centre on the theme of portraits and people in the UAE. The submissions will be reviewed and a selection of the photographs will be included in the exhibition which will be on view August 30 through November 30, 2014 in the Sharjah Art Foundation Art Spaces.
This exhibition is one of Sharjah Art Foundationʼs many initiatives focused on public programming and community outreach. The first Vantage Point Sharjah was held from September 7 to December 7, 2013 and included 100 images by 41 participants representing 20 nationalities. In 2013, the exhibition’s focus was the ‘Life and Landscapes of Sharjah’.
President and Director of SAF Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi stated: “It was very inspiring to see the wide range of responses to the first Vantage Point Sharjah Open Call in 2013. This year we are looking forward to receiving submissions from people across the UAE and reviewing their creative and individual responses to the theme of portraits and people.”
The deadline for submissions to the Vantage Point Sharjah 2 Open Call is July 31, 2014. To be considered for inclusion in the exhibition, applicants should complete and submit the application form available on our website. The application should include up to 6 high-resolution images and each image should be accompanied by a caption that includes a short story or description of the photograph and where it was taken.
