Overview

Featuring more than 50 films from around the world, our annual film festival Sharjah Film Platform (SFP) returns for its sixth edition from 8 to 17 December 2023.

Organised in parallel with the film screenings, this public programme of talks and panel discussions with filmmakers and industry professionals provides an opportunity for learning as well as gathering as a community. This year’s programme focuses on ideas of solidarity and resistance empowered by the medium of cinema.

Featuring regional and international filmmakers, the sessions will touch upon a number of themes, including the Nakba and the Palestinian experience of rupture, African cinema and the postcolonial condition as well as the ways in which cinema can convey the spirit of defiance in the face of oppression.

The talks programme will be held at Sharjah Institute of Theatrical Arts, Al Mureijah Square. For more information regarding this programme, please refer to the sections below.
