This publication is a guide for visitors to Sharjah Biennial 14: Leaving the Echo Chamber Guidebook on view at Sharjah Art Foundation 7 March – 10 June 2019.

The publication is the first in a series of monographs that the Sharjah Art Foundation will be producing on the practices, processes and conceptual contributions of influential artists from around the world. The monograph includes documentation of over two-decades of Sedira's work, as well as specially commissioned scholarly essays that narrate and interpret the artist's practice.

This Arabic Edition, of Ibrahim El-Salahi’s Prison Notebook, published by the Sharjah Art Foundation and the Museum of Modern Art, comprises a facsimile of the Prison Notebook; excerpts of Ibrahim El-Salahi’s personal memoirs; a contextualizing essay by art historian Salah Hassan that addresses the social and political milieu in which it was produced; and a contemporary commentary by the artist.

This English Edition, of Ibrahim El-Salahi’s Prison Notebook, published by The Museum of Modern Art and the Sharjah Art Foundation, comprises a facsimile of the Prison Notebook; an English translation of its prose; a contextualizing essay by art historian Salah Hassan that addresses the social and political milieu in which it was produced; and contemporary commentary by the artist.
