Sharjah Biennial 15: Thinking Historically in the Present

SB15 is now closed. Thank you for your support. Updates on the Biennial can be read here.

Overview

Sharjah Art Foundation is pleased to present Biennial Bytes, the official podcast of Sharjah Biennial 15 (SB15).

Bringing the Biennial to life for culture enthusiasts around the world, the podcast delves into the work of some of the most prominent artists practising today. In each 30 minute-episode, host Hoor Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Art Foundation and curator of SB15, talks to artists about their practice, their process and their Biennial project.

How does an artist’s work speak to the times and places that we live in? How does contemporary art contribute to current discussions on culture? What makes an artist’s practice important and why is it relevant to us? Discussing these questions and more, the podcast underscores the relevance of art and cultural practice in everyday life.

The first season of Biennial Bytes includes 12 episodes – with artists Hassan Hajjaj, Mary Sibande, Nari Ward, John Akomfrah, Joiri Minaya, Yinka Shonibare, Mithu Sen, Kambui Olujimi, Archana Hande, Annalee Davis, Abdulraheem Salem and Amar Kanwar. New episodes will be released every Monday from April 10-12 June 2023.
