Moza Almatrooshi speaks about her Sharjah Biennial 15 work ‘The Agriculture School’ (2022–ongoing).
Centred on people engaged in farming and environmental practices, the project has converted shop spaces in the Old Al Jubail Vegetable Market into wildlife displays. Workshops and cooking events take place there throughout the Biennial.
Almatrooshi’s work sheds light on narratives from both ancient and contemporary mythologies of the Arabian Peninsula through collaborative works using food symbolism that connects regional food production and politics.
