Overview

Sharjah Art Foundation’s Programme for Children and Families includes courses, workshops and excursions conducted by professional artists working in a broad range of visual and performing arts. Designed for participants aged 6 to 15, the programme explores different art forms and encourages creative expression.

Workshops and courses are held at Foundation spaces in the city of Sharjah and at six Art Centres across the emirate. The Art Centres are located in Al Hamriyah, Al Dhaid, Al Madam, Dibba Al Hisn, Khorfakkan and Kalba.

Workshops are free and open to public. All materials are provided by the Foundation.

Current Programme

Spring Programme 2024

24 February to 26 May 2024.

Develop your skills in a wide range of art forms, including weaving, painting, needle punching, wood carving, typography and photography. Enjoy an opportunity to create 2D paper puppets or woven handbags; take part in a mural-making activity led by artists Najat Maki and Diaa Allam to convert public areas in Al Hamriyah into colourful narrative canvases. Many of the sessions are inspired by works on view in ongoing Sharjah Art Foundation exhibitions, including The Casablanca Art School, Lala Rukh: In the Round and Henok Melkamzer: Telsem Symbols and Imagery.

Connect with other participants ages 6 to 15 and their family members as you learn from professional artists working in a broad range of visual arts. Offered in English and/or Arabic, depending on participant needs, the sessions are conducted in Al Hamriyah Art Centre, The Flying Saucer and the Collections Building, Arts Square, in the city of Sharjah.

Please note that for any session identified as a Family Workshop, young participants must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
